How to Prepare for a Photoshoot.

Photoshoot Day

Arrive at your scheduled time. Wash and moisturize your face, as you usually don’t apply any make-up. Wash your hair the night before and don’t apply any product to it. Products such as hair oil or serums may make it more difficult to style your hair. A light exfoliation using a washcloth can help prepare your skin for makeup application. Let us know if you have any skin sensitivities. Our make-up artist has a wide range of professional products; however, if you have specific preferences, feel free to bring them.

Have a certain look you like? Feel free to share inspirational photos to guide your look. Use clear deodorant and moisturize your body to keep your skin looking fresh and hydrated throughout the session. Knowing the key steps of how to prepare for a photoshoot can make all the difference in getting the perfect shot.

Get a Good Night’s Sleep It’s natural to feel a bit of anxiety, however, a restful night before your photoshoot will help you look and feel rejuvenated. I promise the moment you get here your fears will quickly subside. Getting adequate sleep is one of the key steps in how to prepare for a photoshoot because it reduces under-eye puffiness and brightens your complexion, making you look your best in front of the camera.

Hair, Brows, and Nails

Hair Color and Eyebrows If you regularly maintain your hair color or eyebrows, consider scheduling a fresh trim or color appointment before your session. If you don’t, then don’t worry about it! Many of our clients have let their natural grey or white come through, and it’s beautiful. Being prepared is a crucial aspect of knowing how to prepare for a photoshoot.

Manicures and Pedicures Your hands and feet will be visible in many of your photos, so make sure they are photo-ready. A professional manicure and pedicure (or a DIY option at home) will ensure that no chipped polish distracts from your overall look. This is another important tip on how to prepare for a photoshoot.

Spray Tans and Tan Lines

Avoid getting a spray tan right before your photoshoot, especially if it’s your first time. The tan may not appear natural in photos and could impact the final result. Also, stay out of the sun to prevent sunburns or tan lines, as retouching these is not included in your session fee but is available for an additional charge. Knowing how to prepare for a photoshoot includes ensuring your skin tone looks natural.

Clothing

Please bring 4-5 different looks. Include all accessories you’d normally wear with each outfit, including shoes. If you’re not sure what looks best, you can bring more options and we’ll choose the best outfits together. Knowing what clothing to bring is part of how to prepare for a photoshoot to feel confident and comfortable. Looking for some inspiration on what to wear?

Appointment Time and Rescheduling

Arrive on time for your appointment, as arriving late may cut into your session time. Hair and makeup will typically take about one hour, so be prepared to sit back and enjoy being pampered. Your photoshoot session itself will last approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours. Understanding how to prepare for a photoshoot also involves being punctual.

Please note that the deposit for your session is non-refundable, and a $100 fee applies for rescheduling. If you need to reschedule, a minimum of three days’ notice is required.
