A Day at the Studio with Carol
During her time at the studio, Carol reflected on her initial feelings and her experience. “Before the session, I was nervous, but now, I am thrilled I did it. It was a wonderful experience,” she shared. Carol’s session was designed to reflect her new chapter as an author, capturing her poise and the quiet confidence that comes from pursuing what truly matters to her.
Carol’s Reflections on Motherhood and Personal Growth
“My favorite memories are the days my three sons were born,” Carol reminisces. “Motherhood instilled in me strengths and instincts I never knew I had.” Each decade brought Carol new lessons; in her 30s, she embraced her true self, setting aside others’ expectations. Her 40s were about establishing boundaries confidently, and her 50s taught her the crucial balance between self-care and creativity.
Each decade brings new wisdom. What’s something valuable you learned between 30 and 40? 40 and 50? 50 and 60?
In my 30s, I learned to let go of other people’s expectations of me and be more of my true self.
Then, in my 40s, I learned to set boundaries without fear or guilt.
Lastly, in my 50s, I learned the importance of self-care and creativity. I learned to take time for myself and not apologize for it.
Challenging Age-Related Myths
Carol passionately addresses the myths surrounding aging, particularly the misconception that men age better than women. “It’s not true; it’s society’s standards that differ,” she asserts, celebrating the shift towards embracing the beauty and wisdom of older women. Carol’s portrait session at our studio wasn’t just about capturing her image but about challenging these stereotypes and showcasing the elegance that each year brings.
How has your relationship to time changed as you have got olYes,?
Yes, I no longer feel compelled to hustle and rush. I now have the freedom to spend more time on what truly matters to me. This level of freedom was nearly impossible when I was younger, raising children, and establishing a career. In many ways, you regain time as you age.
Are there any myths you would like to bust about the over-40s? If so, can you tell us about them?
The biggest myth is that men age better than women. However, that is not true; rather, it is society that allows men to age and not women. I’m glad that this is pivoting, and we are now embracing women for who they are in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and beyond. Beauty is ageless.
